- 450g Strong White Flour
- 200ml milk
- ¾ teaspoon Salt
- 2 teaspoons Sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ packet of dried yeast
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 4 tablespoons yoghurt
This is much easier than it seems. It also is much nicer than anything you can buy in the supermarket.
Warm the milk in a jug in the microwave for about 30 secs or in a pan (until blood temp).
Add all the ‘wet’ ingredients to this (oil, yoghurt, egg). Combine all the ‘dry’ ingredients in a large bowl (I warm my bowl a little first).
Mix the ‘wet’ and ‘dry’ together and knead by hand for 10 mins or 5 mins in a mixer with a dough hook.
Put the kneaded dough in an oiled bowl and cover the bowl with cling film or a damp tea towel for 2-3 hrs (until doubled in size).
After this take out the ball of dough, divide into 8 piece and roll into ball the size of a golf ball. On a floured surface roll out the ball to the size of a saucer and place them on oiled baking trays.
Cover these with tea towels for about 15 mins.
Preheat the grill and place the baking tray under the heat for about 2-3 mins per side (keep an eye, they should become browned and rise up).
Serve straight away with your favourite curry.
