• 1 Whole Chicken
  • 6 Spring Onions
  • 100g Chestnut or Shitake mushrooms
  • 2cm piece of Ginger
  • Fresh Coriander
  • ½ a cabbage
  • Shaoxing Wine
  • Soy Sauce
  • ½l Water
  • Small pack of noodles

This is a slow cooker recipe. You can do this in a large pot or casserole pot with a lid, but cook for no more than 1 ½ hrs on the lowest heat on the stove.
When I serve this I add some noodles to make this a complete meal.

Clean and chop the onions into 3 – 4cm lengths. Clean and slice the mushrooms. Slice the ginger. Put these in the bottom of the slow cooker. Wash the chicken inside and out and place the chicken whole on top of the veg. I add about ½ a small teacup of Shaoxing wine, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, the water and lay a small bunch of coriander on top.
Put the slow cooker on high for ½ hr then turn down to low for a further 4 hrs.
